This is the second in what I hope will be a series of posts that will look at some of the important topics that schooling no longer seems to cover. Civics, philosophy, critical thinking, etc. Periodically, rather than using my standard essay format, I will be taking inspiration from Plato’s “dialogues,” to explore these topics in discussion format. I have two goals, the first is to make the topics a little less dry and the second is to help me work on my narrative prose.

In my mind, the best way to tell if you’re reading a well written book is if you forget you’re reading at all. Good authors create a visual in the readers’ mind and in the process, the words just seem to flow by unnoticed. The problem with writing, or perhaps more accurately, the problem I face when writing is that I’m so focused on the words I cannot tell if what I’m writing is clunky or sufficiently constructed to approach good writing. That is where I’m hoping you’ll help me out. I always value feedback regarding my arguments but with these dialogues I’m also looking for input on the writing. Feedback is a gift! Just try not to make me cry, ok?
